Power to the People! The new Volkswagen Warranty Puts You First

Volkswagen, the original people's car, announced in late September that most of the new 2018 vehicles that are sold in the United States will include the protection of the People First Warranty -- a six-year/72,000 mile (whichever comes first) bumper-to-bumper new vehicle limited warranty. What's even better about this warranty is that if you sell the vehicle while it's still active, the full warranty can be transferred to a second, or even third, owner.

Initially presented with the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas and Tiguan SUVs, the People First Warranty still covers those two vehicles while also covering these Volkswagen models:

  • Passat
  • Jetta
  • Golf
  • Golf Alltrack
  • Golf GTI
  • Golf R
  • Golf Sportwagen
  • Beetle
  • Beetle Convertible

Unlike warranties from many other manufacturers, The People First Warranty includes six years or 72,000 miles of powertrain coverage for engines, transmissions and 4Motion all-wheel-drive systems. Other manufacturers typically offer a three-year/36,000-mile basic warranty and a five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty. And those competitors that do offer a longer powertrain warranty? They don't allow the warranty to be transferred beyond the 5-year/60,000-mile coverage.

In a press release, Derrick Hatami, Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing for Volkswagen of America, stated, "Volkswagen has begun to grow again in America, and buyers have welcomed the Atlas and Tiguan into their homes. Expanding this warranty beyond those two models gives our dealers another compelling argument for the rest of our lineup, and we believe it will lead to a reduced overall cost of ownership for buyers."

At Valley Volkswagen, we're committed to delivering excellent customer service to drivers from the Charlottesville, Harrisonburg, Waynesboro and Lexington areas.
